The trustees teams of thirteen (13) countries involved in the West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme ( WAAPP/PPAAO ) are trained in Lomé since Monday on financial planning, cash management and procurement. The workshop is organized by the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/ WECARD).

The trustees teams of thirteen (13) countries involved in the West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme ( WAAPP/PPAAO ) are trained in Lomé since Monday on financial planning, cash management and procurement. The workshop is organized by the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/ WECARD).

The objective, according to CORAF/WECARD that coordinates with the support of the World Bank WAAPP/PPAAO at regional level, is to correct the "low" rate of implementation of activities and disbursement of the program.

"At the meeting of pooling results support missions held in Ouagadougou from 11 to 14 November 2013, the cash management, planning and procurement was at the center of our exchanges. On this occasion, it was noted the lack of financial planning, the main cause of the low level of implementation of activities and the low disbursement rate, anything that harms our daily efforts to improve our performance , "said Christian Berger , the coordinator of WAAPP/PPAAO Togo.

According to the representative of the Administrative and Financial Director of CORAF, Maguette Sy it is an opportunity to strengthen the capacity of trustees for WAAPP/PPAAO teams to coordinate and facilitate all efforts to meet the challenges agriculture for development of the sub -region.

WAAPP/PPAAO launched in 2008, aims to contribute to increasing agricultural productivity in the major sectors of the sub-sectors of the participating countries.

Are present at this meeting, representatives of Trustees teams of WAAPP/PPAAO Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Senegal and Togo.
