L’unité de coordination du Programme de Productivité Agricole en Afrique de l’Ouest (PPAAO) au Nigeria a accueilli son homologue ivoirien afin d’explorer les technologies et les innovations dans l’agriculture pouvant être adopté par la Côte d’Ivoire.

Dirigée par le coordinateur adjoint du PPAAO Côte d’Ivoire, Jean Paul Long, l’équipe a visité l’entreprise NOBEX Nigeria LTD, spécialisée dans la fabrication de machines de séchage de mangues, une technologie que le PPAAO-Nigeria avait lui-même importé du Burkina Faso dans le cadre de la coopération régionale prônée par le Programme.

En partenariat avec NOBEX, le PPAAO-Nigeria a été en mesure d’améliorer le séchoir afin de satisfaire aux normes internationales. La nouvelle machine à présent équipée d’une capacité multifonctionnelle, permet de sécher convenablement non seulement la mangue, mais aussi l’ananas et la tomate. Il a été également développé un équipement de séchage rapide pour la production de la farine de manioc, la farine de maïs et de plantain.

Pour Idowu Adeoye, chef Ingénieur de la firme, cette technologie a le mérite de valoriser la productivité agricole en réduisant considérablement les pertes après récolte et en permettant une augmentation significative des revenus des agriculteurs. Ce qui cadre avec l’objectif du PPAAO qui est d’assurer la réduction de la pauvreté dans la sous-région à travers la recherche scientifique.

L’équipe a également visité l’Institut nigérian d’océanographie et de la recherche marine (NIOMR), qui est l’un des trois institutions du Centre national de spécialisation en aquaculture (CNS) et aussi l’institut sélectionné pour abriter le Centre Régional d’Excellence sur l’Aquaculture (CRE-Aquaculture). Sur place, l’équipe ivoirienne a eu à découvrir le four améliorer pour le séchage de poissons.

S’adressant à la délégation, Dr Gbola Akande, le Directeur exécutif du NIOMR, a plaidé pour l’extension de la deuxième phase du programme qui permettra selon lui la mise à l’échelle des résultats obtenus par le PPAAO-Nigéria.

Le chef de la délégation ivoirienne, Jean Paul Long a qualifié de fructueuse et satisfaisante la visite au Nigeria dans le cadre de la coopération régionale en matière de transfert de connaissances et de technologies. La délégation PPAAO de la Côte d’Ivoire, très satisfaite des technologies visitées, a passé une commande de vingt (20) unités de fumage de poissons.

L’équipe a également visité une entrepreneure, PROTHRIVE, à Lagos, qui utilise les machines de NOBEX Nigeria LTD tels que le séchoir pour produire une bouillie traditionnelle améliorée connu sous le nom « akamu » ou « kunu ». Mme Oluyemisi Obe, Directrice Exécutive a exprimé sa satisfaction par rapport à la machine fabriquée par NOBEX Nigeria LTD. Selon elle, la collaboration entre le PPAAO et NOBEX est un grand un atout pour booster la valeur commerciale des produits locaux.

The coordination unit of the Agricultural Productivity Programme in West Africa (WAAPP) in Nigeria hosted his Ivorian counterpart to explore technologies and innovations in agriculture that can be adopted by the Ivory Coast.

In partnership with Nobex, WAAPP-Nigeria has been able to improve the dryer to meet international standards. For Idowu Adeoye, Chief Engineer of the company, this technology has the advantage of enhancing agricultural productivity by dramatically reducing post-harvest losses and enabling a significant increase in farmers’ incomes. This is consistent with the objective of WAAPP is to ensure the reduction of poverty in the sub-region through scientific research.

The team also visited the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research (NIOMR), which is one of three institutions of the National Aquaculture Centre of Specialization (CNS) and also selected to house the institute Centre Regional Excellence on Aquaculture (Aquaculture-CRE). On site, the Ivorian team had to discover the oven to improve the drying of fish.

She said the collaboration between PPAAO Nobex and is a great an asset to boost the commercial value of local products.
